Tendon progress

It has been almost five weeks since I had my foot surgery, so I wanted to let you know how I am doing. In case you missed my previous surgery related posts, I'll explain what kind of surgery I had.
A while bag I started feeling pain on my left foot and it radiated all the way to my knee, not a good feeling if you are a jogger ;(
I saw a Podiatrist when the pain got out of control; after a few MRI's, X-rays, Scans, and tests, Dr. Williams realized that my left peroneal tendon had gotten out of place (the outer ankle bone where it is supposed to go) and that was causing all the pain -from toes to knee- not fun!
The pain usually worsen during summers, since we are more active then, we go on hikes, jogs, etc.
We explored different options, we tried physical therapy to start with, unfortunately, PT only worked for as long as I was receiving the treatment; the minute I was done, boom! pain came right back.
My Therapist and doctor agreed on another method, which was to wrap my ankle on an ace bandage every day to keep my tendon in place; well, it only worked for a while, then again, the pain was back.
A few summers after, I went back to see Dr. Williams, and he suggested I tried something different, we got a black boot that was supposed to help me, guess what? It did not help at all, in fact it just made it worst!
Then we tried another type of boot (the robot boot as I call it), and this one was kinda cool; it works in a way that you use air to pump it up to your comfort and pain level, and it's supposed to prevent the tendon from moving all over the place, it is definitely not a fancy boot and I had to wear it for quite some time.
Again, it only worked for as long as I used it, I was not getting better, the pain was still there, everything I have tried has only helped temporarily and I couldn't bare the pain any longer, my knee became swollen every time I walked for too long, and I needed to adjust my lifestyle to limited walking and no running.
We had exhausted every resource available and nothing helped over time, so when we saw Dr. Williams we decided to do what we had been avoiding all this time: SURGERY!

The repair consisted on cutting the peroneal tendon and Dr. Williams said that it was too stretched and it needed to be cut, doubled and then put back in place. For the first week I was on a splint, the following week they removed the splint and put me on a cast, I was on it for a week and gotta tell you that when they removed the cast, it was so very painful!
So far it's been almost five weeks and I am on my second cast using crutches to move around, I even got a Disabled Parking Permit, never thought I'd need one, but it has helped a whole lot!
Everyone has been so kind and helpful, Wes and my family have been very supportive, he has been in charge of everything here at home, and my church family helped in such a wonderful ways, from helping with dinners, to bringing the kids home from school, to helping with laundry! Unbelievable! Well, I actually do believe it because that is how everyone at church is: selfless, thoughtful, kind, friendly, and I really could go on and on telling you about them!
I'm starting to feel better, I am no longer taking pain killers, I am able to move around a little faster (hey, a little is better than nothing at all!); I have missed church for a month and I miss everyone so much that I can hardly wait to see them.
I have a red cast and lots of friends and family have signed or wrote on it, however, I AM DONE WITH IT! I really can't take it any more, I can't sleep well at night worrying about not hurting my foot, I can make a full meal without having to ask for help, I can't be myself with this cast and crutches!
Next appointment is on January 13th which means that I have over two weeks to go, and then off this cast finally! Well, I still need to wear the robo-boot for 6 to 8 weeks which means an approximate of 15 weeks altogether since the surgery, then little by little I'll start being back to normal, little by little...
