New job, new card

Just to think that this Wednesday I will start a new job, makes my stomach feel all funny.  Well, with a new job comes a lot of changes and of course, after a few months of being unemployed, there is going to be an adjustment period not just for me but also for the hubby as well as the kids.  We are all excited about this change.

During the time I was off work, I was able to help a couple of days at the kids school.  Getting to know other moms better was great, I sure am going to miss chatting with them on Tuesdays and Fridays.  It was interesting to observe Nano's behavior when I was there -children tend to act a certain way when their parents are around.

On another note, today, the kids were off school because of a teacher-in-service day.  They were peacefully playing golf (at home -in our apartment) so I decided to get creative and made a card.

I used a stamp I got not too long ago, and after looking at my previously handmade cards, I noticed that I have been using this stamp a lot... I like it!

For this birthday card I used:

  • Light purple heavy cardstock (4 1/4" x 5 1/2")
  • Light purple heavy cardstock (2 1/2" x 5 1/4")
  • Pink and white polka dots patterned paper (2 1/4" x 5 1/4")
  • Butterfly with flower stamp & Happy birthday stamp
  • Light blue ribbon
  • Red ink (to distress edges)
  • White paper  (4" x 5 1/4" -I would have used cardstock but I ran out)
  • Light purple heavy cardstock (3 7/8" x 1 3/4")
  • Light blue cardstock (3 3/4" x 1 1/2")
  • Large and small punch (you could use two simple squares of different sizes if you prefer)

How I put it together:

  •  To start, make card from cardstock.
  • Adhere the pink and white polka dots patterned paper on top of purple cardstock and then adhere to white paper.
  • Wrap ribbon around the white paper and adhere to card.
  • Using the light blue cardstock adhere to light purple cardstock and make two piercings on the far right for the brads.  Adhere to card.
  • At last, using the two different size of punches, stamp the butterfly with flower on white piece of paper, then adhere to bigger purple piece.  Using glue dots, place this last piece on top of card.
  • You are done!

My directions might not be as clear as the card itself, but either way, I hope you like it!

And as always, please leave a comment and let me know what you think :)
