Crafting spring with cardstock

Card: Spring

We love Washington, we really do, but this weather has been driving us crazy!  If it is not raining, it is hailing, or windy, or we get rain with wind and hail. We get sunshine for a couple of minutes (hours -if we are lucky) and then it's gone.

Wanting to enjoy a couple of warm days and wishing for the rain to go away, we try to occupy our time with books to read, crafts to make, games to play -with Sorry and Madlibs being our favorites.

While Nano reads to me and Nana, I try to come up with a new layout for a card.  As I look at what I have I found the one punch that has become one of my favorites: the flower.  I use two different colors and put them together on top of each other and then I add either a brad or a button right in the middle.  For this handmade card I used a button.

When Nano is done reading his books, I ask both of them to help me choose a layout.  He usually asks Nana which one she likes and then he tells me the opposite of what she says, just to be silly, and then he decides by himself which is his least favorite.

To make this card, I used three different types of cardstock, pastel green -for the card-, turquoise -for the accent color-, green -for balance-, white -for the flowers base-, pastel green and yellow -for the flowers-.

I also used a new punch I found at Ross a while bag, it says Spring and it has a couple of butterflies on top of the letters.

To add a little brightness to the card I got a couple of brads sequences (blue) on the far end of the card and a pink dragonfly for a little colour...

This weekend I visited two stores in Bellevue Square.  I was amazed with the amount of things they had for scrapbookers and cardmakers! So many beautiful things, supplies, embellishments for handmade cards and crafts!  One of the stores was Impress.  They had so many different types of stamps and little things that would make your cards soooo pretty.

I also visited Paper-Source and was excited to see the brads I had been looking for a while, although they were a bit pricey so I didn't get them...

Wes and I had a great time looking at all the designs and patterns, he is a Graphic Designer (UI Designer) and I was happy to be able to talk to him about colors and other "crafty" stuff.

Well, thank you for visiting my site and I hope you leave a comment with suggestions, feedback, and ideas to share with others.

Take care!
