A card for spring

Card: Welcome Spring

Something that I love about living in the beautiful evergreen state of Washington is the beautiful colors of spring.  When we go on walks or long drives, we truly enjoy watching the blooming flowers and the green grass adorning the streets and roads.

A couple of years ago I met a wonderful woman from church.  She is the mom of two great kids, Chase and Ashley.  When I met her I knew she was very artsy because of all the fun crafts she creates for the kids in Sabbath School; what I didn't know was that she makes the most amazing cards.

Her cardmaking skills are highly impressive, she is a very strong woman who is facing a terrible time with her 6 year old son.  Chase is battling leukemia for the second time in his short amount of life.  He lost sight on his left eye.  He is one of Nano's best buddies; and what he is going through is devastating.  He is such a strong and happy boy.  Today, I would like to ask you to please keep Chase and his family in your prayers.  He is only six years old and has his whole life ahead of him.

This card is nothing special, but I wanted to share it with you because of all its pretty colors.  You see, we give our health for granted.  We are able to see, read, and look at what is around us, we are able to listen to the birds chirping, we are able to walk and move around but sometimes, sometimes, we don't really appreciate our bodies, at least not until we are not feeling good, when we are sick, when we have emergency surgeries and are off our feet.  It is then that we realize how important our health is.

I want to encourage you to take a few moments to enjoy your life, stop and smell the flowers, go to the park or look at your window, enjoy the rain as much as the sunshine.

Cardmaking is a way for me to express the way I feel at any given time,  Meeting Teke gave me inspiration.  Meeting Chase gave me courage.  Meeting them gave me strength.

When I'm about to start a new card project I first stare at my cardmaking supplies for quite a few minutes trying to figure out where to start.

This colorful card has bright and pastel colors that complement each other.

On my previous Creative Wednesday I told you about my latest purchase at Ross, the buttons, so, as promised, here is the card I worked on using one of the pretty buttons I bought.

I also used:

Yellow pastel cardstock

Bright pink ribbon

Light blue and green patterned cardstock

A pretty yellow flower to represent the pretty yellow daffodils...

Hope you like this handmade card and don't forget to leave a comment!

See you soon...
