And then there was red This morning, I had my first post-op appointment with the doctor.
Our apartment has stairs {a little scary when you depend on a cast to move around} it really wasn't as difficult as we thought it would be, it actually was kind of funny -in a very sarcastic way-, I sat down on the first stair and then moved down one step at a time until I made it to the bottom and off we went!
We checked in upon arrival but because I've had my foot elevated for the last few days I started getting a bit uncomfortable my foot started hurting, fortunately I didn't have to wait for too long :)
First, I saw Louise, my RN, and as usual she was very nice, she needed to remove the splint to check my wound but in order for her to do that she had to touch my foot, which obviously was hurting and I could not handle it ;( So she asked me if I wanted to take my pain medicine so we could move on... and so I did, I took the medicine even though the pain wasn't going to go away in a matter of minutes but oh well!...!
As she starting removing the "things" I was debating whether or not I should look at my incision, I was scared but curious to know how it looked, so instead I took a picture of it, I just can't share it with you because you'll freak out (I almost did).
The doctor took a look at my wound and said it looked fine, although I was a bit worried because last night I had a nightmare and apparently I jumped in my sleep and hurt the tendons around my leg, so all morning I was in pain (yikes -no more tv before going to bed-); I asked about the inflammation on my toes and he said that it was normal, but it'd get better with time (as I recover).
The moment to make a decision came and Louise asked me what color I preferred, I wasn't sure what she meant since I'd just had the pain killer, so she then explained to me that I had two colors to choose from for my cast, she had red and purple.
Hmmm... that was a tough one...
Well, you can see now what my favorite color is! So, here is a snap of my new red "shoe"!
